Welcome to United Arab Emirates
United Arab Emirates (Al-Imárát al-Arabíja al-Muttahida) is a Middle East state situated in south-west Asia on the eastern part of the Arabian Peninsula on the Persian Gulf coast. It has three neighbour states, on the west it borders Katar, on the south-west Oman, and its eastern neigbour is Saudi Arabia. The area of 32 278 square miles is inhabited by about 4 300 000 people which means that the density of population is very low, in the concrete it is about 133 inhabitants for one mile square.
The country’s coast borders with two water sheets. The north coast which is about 373 miles long is bathed by waters of the Persian Gulf and the 62 miles long east coast closely borders the Gulf of Oman. There are innumerous little mostly desert islands margining the coast. Characteristic is particularly a very shallow seaside with a number of beautiful sand beaches, sandbanks or narrow creeks. Big part of Persian Gulf littoral is covered by coastal salt plains. Otherwise most of the area is a flat plain from big part covered by sand desert.
Although it is mostly just slightly downy plains covered by tint sand, on the east-west you can see giant orange-red dunes. There are also some mountains in Saudi Arabia. In concrete a really interesting stand-alone mountain Jebel Hafit (4265 feet) or rocky mountains Hajar which is situated by the Gulf of Oman coast. The biggest mountain is 5009 feet high Jebel Tibor.
United Arab Emirates is a federation of seven states, termed emirates:
- Sharjah
- Ajman
- Umm al-Qaiwain
- Ras al-Khaimah
- Abu Dhabi
- Dubai
- Fujairah
For a better orientation some of the emirates join into one attribution. That means that first four emirates are also known as Northern Emirates. Names of the capitals of single emirates are the same as the names of the emirates themselves. The capital of the whole state is Abu Dhabi, as the second most important city is generally considered the city of Dubai.
